...are being made. They're fun but often difficult. But with each decision made, I feel happier and more settled. I'm ready for ALL the plans to be out of the way so I can just enjoy being engaged and focus on graduation and have a fun summer!! Some of the decisions that have been made:
- We're getting married. (That was probably the hardest one!!!)
- We're doing a pre-wedding party in Kingsport the weekend before the wedding.
- We're getting married August 20th, 2011, in the San Diego temple. Adam's grandpa is going to seal us.
- We're doing a beach reception following the ceremony.
- We're going on a honeymoon to Hawaii!
Decision to be made (input gladly welcomed!!!):
- bridesmaids and groomsmen? To have or not to have?
- colors?!
- luncheon? Yes or no?
- photographer final decision?
That's where I am right now. As I said, input gladly welcomed. And sincere thanks to each and every one of those who have given their input! I promise I have listened and absorbed your thoughts!
bridesmaids: i didn't have them but kinda wish i had.. just for the pictures :)
ReplyDeletecolors: i thought you decided pink and white!!! i was just thinking the other day that if i could have my wedding day again i would do grey and baby pink :)
luncheon: definitely. SO worth it. you need a big meal since you probably won't get to eat with everyone else at the reception. PLUS it's a nice gesture to feed everyone who traveled to come to your special day!!
Bridesmaids and Groomsmen: People who do not have this as part of their wedding tend to be very casual, non-detail-oriented people. You don't strike me as such. It's not only fun for pictures but it's also traditional, and it gives the hot groomsmen a reason to hit on the ladies.
ReplyDeleteColors: An august wedding in San Diego? Something very bright bright bright and summery. I did go to a summer wedding in San Diego that did yellow, black, and white and it was SOOOO classy. (At first it sounded totally weird, but it was executed smashingly).
Luncheon: Of course. Not even a choice.
Photographer: I'm voting for Effervescent Media.
Good Luck, Lady!!!!!
I think briedesmaids and groomsmen are fun ideas, but don't make them stand in a line or anything - yuck.
ReplyDeleteyes on the luncheon - you need to eat at some point.
hi sarah, congrats on your engagement!
ReplyDeletehere's my opinion of the luncheon (i have strong opinions on this for some reason): do not have a luncheon, they so weird! here's why: if you have one first, you have to get up at the butt crack of dawn to get married, then you have the awkward decision to wear the dress to lunch, or change into something else. then, you have all this awkward time before the reception. plus, all of your guests have to hang around all day and find something to do in between the lunch and reception.
here's what i recommend: get married as late in the day as possible. i got married at 3 i think, and that was the best decision ever. we had a rehearsal dinner the night before and bachelor/ette parties after. on the wedding day i slept in until 10, spent my sweet time getting ready with my girls, got married, took pics, and then went to the reception. it went so smooth, and no one had to waste time. guests could just leave early from work, instead of devoting their entire day.
this is probably way more info than you want, but i thought i would throw it out there.
bridesmaids and groomsmen- we just had siblings wear matching colors, ties, something so you could tell they were related. if you do have a wedding party, dont make them stand in line cuz no one really cares who they are. haha
ReplyDeletecolors- something sunshiny and happy :)
luncheon- we did a dinner the night before the wedding and it was perfect. it left the wedding day alot less stressful and you can enjoy it and don't have to worry about rushing through pictures cuz you know everyone is waiting for you at the luncheon.
photographer- my vote is still for pointedigital (i may be biased since i used them for my wedding too!)
ps... everyone is gonna have opinions, but its your wedding so you do what makes you and adam happy cuz that's what its about in the end :) but also remember, it's not always about the wedding, it's about the eternal marriage so don't stress too much about the details!
